Introductory training in data archiving at the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and Jordanian Department of Statistics (DOS)
The Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS) based in Amman hosted a 5-day Microdata Management Toolkit training. Five (5) representatives from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and 3 representatives from the Department of Statistics (DOS), Jordan attended the training. The group archived 5 surveys and was also exposed to the National Data Archive software.

Lao PDR starts archiving its surveys in Toolkit Training (Vientiane, 16 to 20 November 2009)
At least 20 surveys of Lao PDR will be archived by April next year in accordance with IHSN standards after 15 participants were trained on the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit in Vientiane on 16-20 November 2009. The training-workshop was opened by Deputy Director General Yavang Vachoima, in behalf of Director General Samaychanh Boupha who was attending the Paris21 Consortium Meeting in Dakar. The trainees included 11 staff from the DoS, two from the Ministry of Agriculture (MA), and two consultants.
SIAP Training includes IHSN Toolkit (Chiba, Japan, 10-11 November 2009)
The IHSN Toolkit was introduced to the participants of the 5th Group Training Course in Modules on Fundamental Official Statistics conducted by the UN Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) in Chiba, Japan. The course has 19 participants coming from 14 countries, namely: Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Iran, Kiribati, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Philippines, Samoa, Tajikistan, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Viet Nam. The course started on 5 October 2009 and will end on 19 March 2010.
IHSN Toolkit Training for Philippine agricultural statistics produces “BEANS” (Rizal Province, 31 August to 04 September 2009)
Nineteen trainees from the Philippine Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) participated in the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit Training and DDI Production Workshop, and started producing DDIs for surveys on food and agriculture from 31 August to 04 September 2009 in Rizal province. An important output of the training was a demonstration of the draft BAS NADA, named the “BAS Electronic Archiving and Network Services”, or BEANS for short. The BEANS included some of the surveys documented during the workshop, complete with branding.
