IHSN Toolkit training and convergence in Malawi (Liwonde, September 6-16, 2009)
A Microdata Management Toolkit Training was held in Liwonde, Malawi for the National Statistics Office. The training was also attended by a representative from the African Development Bank, Mr. Fessou Lawson. The AfDB will be partners in implementing good practices in data archiving in various pilot countries. Two representatives from the Zambian Statistics Office were also present.
This workshop helped encourage regional ties and collaboration in the area of data documentation.
IHSN Toolkit training in Paraguay (Asunción, September 7-11, 2009)
The training course was organized in response to the national statistical office’s (DGEEC) request based on their interest to strengthen micro-data documentation and dissemination practices. The training course took place in a well equipped seminar room at the Villa Morra Suites Hotel in Asunción with 26 trainees coming from different governmental institutions.
NADA installation at the Zambia Central Statistics Office (September 9-11, 2009)
A NADA installation was done by the Central Statistics Office of Zambia. The work is part of the GTZ/ADP partnership. This particular installation was funded by Macro International as part of the Global Fund 5-Year Evaluation.
National survey catalog upgraded at GBOS, the Gambia (Banjul, September 5-9, 2009)
The Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBOS) upgraded their NADA system. This was done with the assistance of the Ghana Statistical Service. See the new survey catalog at http://www.gbos.gm/nada/.
IHSN Toolkit training in Bhutan (Paro, August 30-September 4, 2009)
A Microdata Management Toolkit Training was held in Paro, Bhutan from Aug. 20-Sept. 4. The Toolkit was hosted by the National Statistics Bureau (NSB). The IHSN tools were quickly adapted to use in Bhutan and will be institutionalized by the NSB. A National Data Archive (NADA) is also planned for installation. Five surveys were documented during the workshop and a test NADA was also provided for the NSB. Follow up activities will include: a production workshop with a review of the survey documentation as well as support for the NADA dissemination tool.
